Candidates could come out of one of several backgrounds -- investment banking (with or without education industry experience); corporate business development (e.g., for a Pearson or Cengage); a leadership role in the eLearning sector (e.g., for SkillSoft or Blackboard); or private equity or venture capital. The common denominator, however, is they must know how to manage an M&A transaction.
